About Us
About the Company
It is a very rewarding experience for us to watch people's faces as we tour our fabulous 20,000 square foot facility in Dallas, Texas, and explain how our family business got started!
The year was 1916.
Simon Goodman, our grandfather, was working for a candy company in Dallas and earning 10 cents an hour. He was an exceptionally hard worker and when his request for a raise was denied, he quit his job thinking his employer would surely beg him to return! A few days went by with no word from his former employer! Simon knew he would have to search for a new job.
Search for a new job.
In 1916, Simon didn't have the luxury of choosing the line of work he loved. He just knew he had to put food on the table and selling food came to his mind! He bought some corn, offered it for sale and sold every bit of it. In fact, he made more money in one day than he made in an entire week at his candy job! The very next day, he was rewarded with the same results from selling tomatoes. It was then, our grandfather realized that the produce business was where he belonged!
By the mid 1940's.
Jack Goodman, our father, was involved in the family produce business. He helped build the business into one of Dallas' largest wholesale produce companies. It was a thriving business specializing in delivering fruits and vegetables to restaurants, hospitals and grocery stores. On certain occasions, Simon would pack a basket full of fresh fruit and give to his neighbors, friends and customers. Our mother and father suggested that he offer these baskets for sale -- they would make great "get well", "thank you", "sympathy" or "happy holiday" gifts!
Another business is born.
By the 1960's, the produce business had gotten even bigger. This afforded our parents the time to further develop the concept of giving fruit baskets as gifts. Soon, the demand to send gifts of fruit became so big that a separate warehouse was needed each Christmas season just to fill the orders. Ruth Goodman, our mom, would decorate a showroom in the temporary buildings and display all of the "goodies" we had to offer. She created a very warm environment allowing customers to taste our products, offering them a cup of coffee and a place to sit down while they placed their Christmas orders. It became very clear to our parents that this new division of the family produce business deserved special attention! It didn't take long to come up with the name Goodies from Goodman!
The year was 1973.
The first year-round Goodies from Goodman retail store was opened in an exclusive neighborhood shopping center under the direction of Chuck Goodman. We carried the most beautiful fresh fruits and vegetables, fruit baskets, fine candies and gourmet foods from around the world. Our products were the very best and our service was second to none! Goodies from Goodman was fast becoming the place to shop for specialty foods and gift baskets.
In 1975, a catering division of Goodies from Goodman was created. This was a natural transition since we already carried fresh produce and other gourmet foods. We decided from the beginning to target the corporate customer -- companies who bring meals in for business. Word spread quickly about our catering service! Our customers were more than willing to give us a try since we did such great work on their gift baskets!
Another Goodman joins the business.
By 1978, Bobby Goodman had teamed up with his brother, Chuck, to run the family business. It was a perfect match from the beginning! Both of us grew up in the business -- we had the same desire to make Goodies from Goodman a real success! Year after year, our gift basket and catering business continued to grow as well as our reputation in the business community!
We were ready for the next step.
In 1989, we took our wonderful fruit baskets and added fresh flowers for a unique gift idea. That was the start of our floral division. With the client following we had and the ability to hire extremely talented people, we chose to add fresh floral and plant arrangements to our gift selections. We took a unique approach with our floral department and designed floral arrangements which included fresh fruit, bath & body products, chips & hot sauce, Godiva chocolates and other gourmet goodies! Goodies from Goodman became the hot new spot for flowers!
Gourmet Gift Baskets.
We've been doing it for years! Once a year we produce a beautiful catalog featuring our products! We've come a long way since the horse and buggy days!
Jack Goodman taught us to "Operate from the heart first and the pocketbook will follow". Ruth Goodman taught us to "Never cut corners... always deliver the very best"!
We run our business with these principles in mind. Goodies from Goodman customers are treated with utmost respect! We're fair -- we're honest -- we always do the right thing! When it comes to "getting your money's worth", no one does it better! Our floral and gift basket items are of the highest quality!
Our business is successful because we listened to our parents and grandparents. They had much to say about running the business -- they were great teachers! We promise to always deliver the uncompromising quality that you, our customer, have come to expect!

Sorry, we do not ship gifts out of the Country. We do ship to Alaska & Hawaii, however, these gifts must go 2nd or Next Day Air and there is an additional $20.00 fee for 2nd Day Air Service and $30.00 for Next Day Air Service that will be added to the shipping cost.
Delivery Policy
What are your delivery fees?
We offer FREE Standard shipping via FedEx Nationwide! The only time you pay extra is if you decide to send a gift via Second Day Air, Next Day Air, to a patient in a Dallas area hospital, to a hotel guest or request a special delivery time.
Hospital deliveries to patients are unique.
Delivery to patients in hospitals in our local area (Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Dallas, Farmers Branch, Garland, Irving, Las Colinas, Lewisville, Plano & Richardson) require a small delivery fee since we are not able to send the gift via FedEx. This fee covers the cost of hiring a courier to hand-deliver your gift. Unfortunately, we are not able to send a gift to a patient in a hospital outside the Dallas area via FedEx. We suggest you send the gift to your recipient's home. We are able to send gifts to Doctors and Staff at hospitals via FedEx which means there would be no special delivery fee.
What method of delivery do you use?
We use a combination of outside couriers and FedEx. All gifts are guaranteed to arrive in perfect condition!
Warm weather shipping information.
If the weather is too warm, gifts containing chocolate may have items substituted of equal or greater value to ensure perfect arrival. During the hot summer months, fruit gifts and smoked meat gifts being shipped to certain states may require Second or Next Day Air delivery. We will contact you if this applies to your order and we can discuss various options that meet your approval.
How soon do you ship my gift after I've placed my order?
Unless requested otherwise, orders are shipped within 24 hours of receipt provided we have complete address information (suite # or Apt # if applicable). Orders received after 3:00pm on Fridays will be shipped the following Monday.
For Birthdays, Anniversaries or Special Occasions, please use the Special Instruction Box on our order form to tell us the actual date of the event.
How long does it take for a gift to reach its destination?
It depends on how far you are shipping your gift. Generally speaking, gifts will be delivered within 1 to 4 business days. The closer your recipient is to Dallas, the shorter the delivery time. It is possible for your gift to arrive prior to the date selected. This, of course, is using FedEx Ground service. Second Day and Next Day Air service is available for an additional charge.
Can your smoked meats be re-frozen?
We ship our smoked turkeys, briskets and hams frozen, however, we know that they might be thawed upon arrival. Upon receipt of a smoked meat, place it in the refrigerator. If you do not plan on eating your smoked meat within 3 days of receiving it, please re-freeze it.
Can you ship gifts out of the country?
Sorry, we do not ship gifts out of the country because Customs will delay the delivery of the gift. Since most of our gifts are perishable in nature, we choose not to ship our gifts out of the country.
What about shipping gifts to Alaska & Hawaii?
Gifts being sent to Alaska or Hawaii must go Air and there is an additional $20.00 fee for 2nd Day Air and $30.00 for Next Day Air that will be added to the shipping cost. Also, it can sometimes take one extra day to deliver - this means 2 day air can possibly take 3 days to deliver and "overnight service" might take 2 days.
What if I have special instructions regarding my order?
There is a special box on our on-line order form that allows you to communicate your special instructions to us. We will use this information as much as possible, however, please note, our couriers and FedEx are not always able to accommodate your request.
What should I do if I have a question about my order?
You can either call us at 972-484-3236 or send an email to us. We will quickly take care of your needs.
What makes Second Day and Next Day Air prices high?
Air charges are based upon weight and size of the shipping box. Some of our products might not be heavy, however, they need to be packaged in an over-sized shipping box that will ensure perfect arrival. We always give you the best prices possible!
Substitution Policy
Occasionally, substitutions may be necessary to create your gift basket due to the availability of certain products and temperature during various times of the year. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and product choices of the gift basket, using products of equal value.
